Review - Wallpaper. - Ricky Reed Is Real
Wallpaper. is the brainchild of Ricky Reed, who we’re pretty sure is legally insane. Everything that Wallpaper. releases is terribly wonderful, much like contemporaries LMFAO. In fact, now that LMFAO are on hiatus and their solo careers are…less than happening…let’s all be glad we have someone to fill that void in our musical lives.
The “band” first appeared on our radar over a year ago with such tunes as “Fucking Best Song Ever” and “#Stupidddfaced” (they might have been the first ones to name a song with a hashtag). This album has been a while coming, and while there hasn’t exactly been a hit single, they are already making waves in the music world.
Ricky proves he has the magic touch when it comes to the musics – that special something that makes everything wonderful when it doesn’t logically make any sense. If you pick apart the purposefully terrible blasé hip-hop and electronic pop, you can see that very little make sense. Adding this to that shouldn’t create a song as fun and catchy as the final product turns out to be, but that’s what makes an artist special.
‘Ricky Reed is Real’ is a collection of hit-or-misses, filled with some fantastic pop tunes that could rock you all summer (“Last Call” is your new favorite party track and “Let’s Get Away With It”) and others that will satisfy the acquired taste of weird-lovers and hipsters alike (“RRiR”).
Listen to: “Last Call”, “Drunken Hearts”, “Hesher”, “Good 4 It”, “Let’s Get Away With It”, “Puke My Brains Out”
