Review - Pitbull - Global Warming
Pitbull’s latest album is the same as all his others: a collection of party anthems. Songs proclaiming the benefits of spending all night drinking, semi-anonymous sex with the singer, and more proclamations of both how much money he has and how “worldwide” he is pretty much make the content of ‘Global Warming’ (which if a fairly appropro title).
The only thing that has changed here is the music, and even that hasn’t shifted all that much. Pitbull, along with anyone else looking to attach themselves to the latest musical trends, has brought on some of the bigger EDM producers to make him some tracks. Afrojack steps in and gives him a PARIS HILTON REJECT (yes, you heard right) called “Last Night”, which Havana Brown features on. The Shakira-assisted “Get It Started” is in there too, as well as “Party Ain’t Over (ft. Usher and Afrojack)”, which would be perfect for an EDM festival, were it not for his involvement. The rest of the album is either pure pop (“Back In Time”, “Don’t Stop The Party [ft. TJR]”), or a Latin-influenced something else (“Echa Pa’lla [Manos Pa’rriba] [ft. Papayo]”). We’ve heard this all before, and there is literally nothing new to be found on the sixteen tracks that make up ‘Global Warming’. While some of the songs are fun – I really enjoyed “Back In Time” – the whole “Mr. Worldwide” etc. etc. shtick is getting old, and no amount of super producers can help him with that. Listen to: “Global Warming (ft. Sensato)” (just for the cool “Macarena” sample), “Back In Time”, “Don’t Stop The Party (ft. TJR)”, “Party Ain’t Over (ft. Usher and Afrojack)” |
