Review - Outasight - Nights Like These
Outasight is one of my favorite artists here at Pop! Bang! Boom!, so I was rather excited for this album. Outasight has been featured here for all of his recent singles, and should he release any more, I’ll probably cover those as well. Loved them all. So, that’s where I’m coming from before listening to this album.
Now for the actual review. You know, unbiased and all. Well, if you’ve heard the first few singles – “Tonight Is The Night”, “Now Or Never”, “Shine (ft. Chiddy Bang)” and “I’ll Drink To That” – then you know what’s coming your way with ‘Nights Like These’. Also, if you’re familiar with British pop/dance hip-hop artist Example, I’d say he’s America’s version of that. Or possibly Flo Rida. The songs are VERY mainstream friendly, each one making sure to have a pop/dance rhythm and beats, and every song has its own hook. Essentially, Outasight was going for a collection of singles here. Or, trying to have at least one big one. So, the album is really pretty good. A solid B+, A-. A solid pop CD with hip-hop lyrical sensibilities. A few tracks stand out with that extra oomph (“Now Or Never”), and while there isn’t too much variety in the ten songs, you don’t really want it. You’re having too much fun. I don’t know that ‘Nights Like These’ will produce the big smash that both Warner Brothers and Outasight were hoping for, and that’s a shame, as you can tell that each song was created for such a destiny, and there really isn’t any reason why these singles shouldn’t make it while other artists’ do. Listen to: “Tonight is the Night”, “Now Or Never”, “Ready Set Go”, “I’ll Drink To That”, “Nights Like These” |
