Review - Kerli - Utopia EP
Kerli released a new EP and it’s REALLY good.
The Estonian bubble Goth princess has released a seven song EP that is pretty much perfect. Kerli has stuck with her newfound sound of power pop mixed with electro and tossed it up with some-heart-wrenching lyrics and piano with a few of the new songs.
This album is going to make you dance, remember, reminisce, and dance more.
You’re going to want to jump and belt along with Kerli while listening to “Lucky Ones.” It’s pure euphoria. The first 30 seconds of the song are wonderfully powerful and the tribal house drop is sure to get you moving out of your desk chair.
“Love Me or Leave Me” is not the song you want to listen to while driving at high speeds because you will most likely tear up and/or start remembering that bittersweet moment way back when. The simplicity of piano mixed with orchestral strings is downright gorgeous. For more thought-inducing piano, listen to “Chemical.”
And finally, be sure to check out the funky, synthy, jumpy, other-adjective-y “Sugar.” The pizzicato string riff will remind you of The Eurythmics’ “Here Comes the Rain Again.”
Listen to: Just grab all of them. Every song is good, but what else would we expect from Kerli?
