Listen Up - YYZYYZ (yes, yes zat’s tee name) is actually Ali McNally and Dan Gamble, with Ali taking over vocal duties. I’m not sure where it is so rare to hear a group with guys fronting and women in the background. Maybe we like hearing women’s voices more? Who cares about the reason--just be thankful Ali is singing the wonderful pop tunes she is.
The duo is apparently from Toronto and London, so that makes them international enough for me! Their sound is POP that leans towards electro. I’m willing to bet that if they had an hour in the studio with someone like David Guetta or Cirkut they’d be making radio-ready top 40 fodder. They sound like a group that would be an easy choice for any label. Don’t believe me? Listen for yourself and tell me you couldn’t hear a lot of this on a superstar’s next album. |
