Listen Up - Willy Moon![]() It seems like London is simply bursting at the seams with talented artists and musicians, especially on the pop scene. With his live retro sound and his impeccably tailored suits, Willy Moon is going to be an instant summer hit.
Moon, whose real name is William George Sinclaire, has been on the music scene for a short while, but he’s already making a name for himself with his old-school vocals and classically handsome looks. Some may look at his work and think that he’s just doing something that hasn’t been done… That may be, but it’s a good something that hasn’t been done in 50 years. His debut album Here’s Willy Moon was released this past Monday. Moon recently performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas, along with countless other bands. Moon’s endearing homage to the 1950’s American Bandstand style of singing and music is one of the most refreshing styles we’ve seen in a long time. His song “Yeah Yeah” has that fantastic clean guitar riff that flows seamlessly with the lively drums. Also, he loves being filmed in black and white for his music videos, and did we mention he’s New Zealand-English? One of the top comments for his video on YouTube was something along the lines of “Wow. Didn’t expect those vocals from him.” Now, “Shakin’” isn’t exactly the most danceable song but it’s a perfect showcase of Willy Moon’s multifaceted talent. They guy plays guitar and sings very, very well. Moon’s voice is also void of that layered, pitch-corrected sound that dominates a lot of pop voices, today. Whether it’s his lively dancing and singing, his impeccable sense of style, or his handsomely defined chin, the odds are that you’re going to fall in love with Willy Moon.
