Listen Up - Nina Nesbitt
File next to: ZZ Ward.
The minute that the guitar starts, I’m sold. I have always loved the whole bluesy/rock sound, but until recently I’ve kind of forgotten about it. Yes, Adele brought it back, but after that subsided I needed a minute away, so it was (and always will be) all about the dance and electro.
Now that I can’t stop listening to the lovely ZZ, the door is back open. And now here comes Nina Nesbitt, a new artist signed to Island. She has a number of lovely tunes, but “Boy” is her big single, and boy (HA! Get it?!) is this going to be big!
We live in a world where Ed Sheeran and the like can do massive things in the UK (where she is based) with nothing more than an acoustic guitar (among many others), so I see absolutely no reason why Nina shouldn’t be next. In fact, I would LOVE to hear them do a duet. Oh god, I want that so bad.
While I think about the unbelievable-ness that would occur if the two of them were in a studio together with just a guitar each, listen to some more of Nina. You’ll see how poised she is for amazing things.
She’s just so cute and fun, but at the same time she can be devastating and beautiful. How can we have someone do both of these? I’m not sure, but Nina bounces back and forth between the two effortlessly.
I can see this one being big over there ladies and gents. You heard it here first.
She of course has plenty of other great songs, but I can’t play you all of them, so check her out online.
