Listen Up - Gin Wigmore

Picture
The name’s Wigmore; Gin Wigmore.

Shaken or stirred, this Gin goes with anything.

As featured in the latest James Bond Heineken advert with her biggest hit in the US, “Man like That”, Gin Wigmore, a breakout artist from New Zealand, has emerged into American television and is making her way to through the music charts.

The 26 year old singer-songwriter has been a hit in New Zealand since 2009, but now three years later is playing in New York and other cities around the nation. She has won 5 New Zealand Music Awards for her album 'Holy Smoke' and Highest Selling Artist. Many listeners have also innocently mistaken her for Duffy on a few tracks.

Or maybe Duffy’s more intense, distorted, flapper girl sister.

If alternative rock, 50’s rock and roll, 1940’s swing and big band, and grunge could somehow have a four-way baby, Gin Wigmore would be that child. Her latest single, “Man Like That” lures you into the chorus with a lively drum line and some really intense guitar work.

Wigmore’s raspy vocals and live horn sections make this Kiwi import a gem on today’s music scene. While “Man Like That” has a bit of a sex drive to it, another one of her most popular songs, “Don’t Stop” has a more innocent side to it. The horns will remind listeners of The Beatles “All You Need is Love” era and the carefree attitude that came with it on her first album, 'Holy Smoke.'

One final song y’all should check out is “Kill the Night.” It’s gritty, it’s sexy, it’s everything you ever wanted in a song to play to seduce your other half.

Props, Gin. Keep ‘em coming!
