9.30.12 - New Music - Example
There was a lot of potential here, but I feel like the final product didn’t quite deliver.

I feel like the song feels rushed, and that many of the rhymes aren’t great (he rhymes the word shovel. How can you use the word shovel in a song like this? Good thing this is a lyric video and you can actually read [while you listen] and see). On top of that, I understand his wanting to put dubstep into the mix, but you’ve got to kill it if you’re going to do that. The verses are dubstep (a welcome change to the regular breakdown), but the chorus doesn’t have enough…BOOM. It is almost there, and then it drops off and the verse begins again. I was looking for a “Changed The Way You Kissed Me”-sized electro drop. Also: this song isn’t released until mid-November. What is he doing premiering it now? Why make people wait so long to buy it? Knowing today’s single-hungry audience and the shelf life of a song like this, the song won’t chart very well, as people will have forgotten about it by then. “Close Enemies” isn’t available yet. |
