9.25.12 - New Music - Kesha
NEW. KE$HA. EVERYONE. LISTEN. I…I…I’m out of breath.
This is what I expected, but not everything I wanted. Ke$ha promised us something more rock than pop, and this is much more dance than anything else. But hard dance, and with a great breakdown as a chorus, so we good. Plus, she might have more rock on the album. We’ll see. And that breakdown towards the end of the song that is nothing more than a collection of vocals, cymbals, and handclaps brings this back to a place of almost instrumentation. Ke$ha shows us that while she is a dance pop darling (and this new album will most likely be the hardest and most electro thumping good time this year), she can bring something real into the mix. Quick note – I don’t like that the very beginning (and the few seconds right before the breakdown) are the exact same sounds as in Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling”. Dr. Luke produced both hits, and while I am sure there are more than a few songs out there that have that tune, these two are too close together and too similar for me to pass up mentioning it. (listen to this and then the first few seconds of the Ke$ha song and you’ll see what I mean) |
