9.21.12 - New Music - Train
The Train…train…keeps chugging on (yes, that was just bad writing, I’m sorry) as the band releases a third single from their latest album ‘California 37’.
The new single, entitled “Bruises”, features country singer Ashley Monroe in a pretty little duet. The song is inoffensive, and is a lot less rocking than their last two – “Drive By” and “50 Ways To Say Goodbye”. Instead, lead singer Pat Moynahan sings of lost love and how long the two have been apart. Sweet, kind of, until you realize that it is a current Train song. I am not in love with the song, but I don’t totally hate it either. I think it is fine, but fine isn’t really a great place to be with me. I listen to a lot of music, and there are usually three categories (simple categories). I love something, I hate something, or it is fine. Fine doesn’t mean good, it means that I don’t hate or love it. It is just somewhere in the middle, sitting there, doing nothing. Fine is like my critical purgatory, and who really wants to be there? I won’t rag on the song, but I will say that I don’t really see it doing a whole lot as far as the charts are concerned. Radio? Maybe some adult contemporary or something, but let’s not count on it. |
