9.19.12 - New Music - Flo Rida
Flo Rida’s new album ‘Wild Ones’ is a fucking hit single factory, isn’t it?
The CD only came out in July, but already he is releasing his fifth single from the 9-song set. We’ve already seen “Good Feeling”, “Wild Ones (ft. Sia)”, “Let It Roll” (well, ok, many of us didn’t really hear that, as it wasn’t really given a chance, but oh well), and then the recent #1 hit “Whistle”. Yesterday, his latest single “I Cry” was sent out to radio stations in the US for play. While “I Cry” isn’t quite the record that “Wild Ones” or “Good Feeling” was, it is still catchy enough to grab the ears of more than a few program directors, and I’m willing to bet that some stations will play the track. Will it become a smash? Who can tell these days. The song features that super high-pitched vocal that everyone seems to do in the chorus, and it is a sample (would it be a Flo Rida single if there wasn’t a sample?) of a song called “Cry (Just A Little)” from a group called the Bingo Players. That song only came out last year, so I think it is a bit ballsy of him to already be sampling it in a single of his own. Then again, he did the same with Avicii’s “Levels”, so there’s nothing holding Flo back from…well…anything. “I Cry” was never my favorite track on the album, and still isn’t now. It’s fine, and I hope you all enjoy, but I’ll keep waiting for “Run” to be released. That shit should be a SMASH. “I Cry” is available now. |
