New Music - Calvin Harris & John Newman
Everything Calvin Harris does these days is a guaranteed hit in his homeland, for better or worse. While a song like "Summer", his previous single, might not be revolutionary, it's difficult to argue the instant catchiness and mass appeal. That's usually his M.O., but sometimes even the best in the biz don't get it 100%. "Blame" is already a smash in the UK. In fact, it's his fifth number one in as many years, and he's still just getting going. It's also just about the blandest song Harris has released yet, mixing pieces and ideas from previous tracks while including almost nothing entirely original. If you want to hear where "Blame" gets its best bits, listen to his other well known songs "Sweet Nothing" and "I Need Your Love", both of which are better options as well. |
