8.31.12 - New Music - Calvin Harris and Florence Welch

Calvin Harris needs to take a little break methinks.

This is now the sixth single from this CD…and the damn thing ain’t even out til October! His new CD, entitled ’18 Months’ (I’m guessing that’s how long it has taken to make?) has thus far spawned the singles “Bounce (ft. Kelis)", “Feel So Close”, “Let’s Go (ft. Ne-Yo)”, “We’ll Be Coming Back (ft. Example)”, and “We Found Love (Rihanna’s single, which is one his CD as well because he produced it).

Now the super-producer has teamed up with Florence + the Machine’s Florence Welch, who was primed and ready for a move into dance music. Now that the world has seen what a real singer like that can do to a perfect dance beat (via Sia and David Guetta), I expect to see a lot more of that kind of thing happening.

I obviously haven’t a bad thing to say about the song, seeing as how it is wonderful. The minute I heard that the two were collaborating, I knew only the best of things would emerge. Harris’ CD is shaping up to be one of the most epic dance records in recent history. On top of the six singles we’ve already heard, there are collaborations with Ellie Goulding, Nicky Romero, Dizzee Rascal, and another song with Rihanna.

Sadly, we’re all going to have to wait for “Sweet Nothing”, as the song isn’t actually released until October 14th – two weeks before the album comes out. A little early to be leaking it, don’t you think?
