8.2.12 - New Music - Melanie Amaro
The winner of X Factor season one (US X Factor, that is) Melanie Amaro has graced us with her debut single. The song is called “Don’t Fail Me Now”, and it isn’t exactly what we were expecting or hoping for.
Melanie was a stunner – she really stole the show and earned her recording contract ($5 million, wasn’t it?). She had a great voice, an awesome personality, and PRESENCE. I could really see her going somewhere, and it was a great moment. Cut to a few months later, and it was announced she was going to be in a commercial that would air during the Super Bowl – and it would feature her song! Turns out the song was just a dance version of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”, and it wasn’t the best. I liked it, but it wasn’t what she needed to release for her debut. So, another seven months have passed, and what do we have? This. “Don’t Fail Me Now” certainly isn’t bad, but it is lacking. Lyrically it doesn’t have a lot going on, and I have to say that I hate the dance build-up! It gets you all excited, and then…nothing! I was waiting for some awesome dance breakdown the whole song, but it never came! Ahhh! So frustrating! This song feels like you’re about to orgasm, and then someone stops blowing you and asks you a question. DON’T STOP IT I WAS ALMOST THERE. Well, maybe that is a bit extreme and terribly inappropriate, but what are you gonna do? Anyways, let’s hope that this will quickly be relegated to album-track status, and that some fantastic single is on its way. “Don’t Fail Me Now” is not available yet, but maybe itunes or Amazon will have it sometime soon. |
