8.17.12 - New Music - Usher
As was my suspicion, Usher’s song “Numb” is going to be pushed as a single. That wasn’t very hard to guess.
The upcoming single will be his fourth off his latest album ‘Looking 4 Myself’. The song takes him back into the dance genre, following third single “Scream”’s success. The song was produced by Swedish House Mafia (and anyone who knows the dance trio well can hear it instantly), and the song was originally labeled as featuring all three of them, but that was way too long (Usher – “Numb [ft. Axel Hedfors, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Alessandro Lindblad, and Klas Ahlund]” would look a little silly on a Billboard chart, wouldn’t it?). So, now we’re just going with Usher, and the others will have to be happy with songwriting and production credits. I liked this song from the beginning. I even called it one of the standout tracks of the album (you can read my review here). I hope that people will catch on to this song, as I really feel it is the best of his singles thus far from this CD. “Scream” is a little too overdone for me, and while “Numb” isn’t anything brand new, it would be refreshing for Top 40 radio. |
