8.12.12 - New Music - Jason Derulo

Say what you want about Jason Derulo (that he has made some so-so music in his day, primarily), he can almost always get me dancing along.

I have so much music to write about ALL THE TIME that sometimes my list gets too long and I miss songs. This is one of the many times that such a thing has happened. I put this on my “new music” list a while back, and the page got so long that it went on to page number two, where it was basically relegated to the back of my mind (which means nowhere).

I thought that even though this song is kind of old now (old meaning three months or so, which is a HUGE AMOUNT OF TIME IN POP MUSIC) I should give it a mention. I think I am going to start liking Derulo more, as he has earned it. There were more than a few songs on his last album that I liked, and I don’t know why I have him in my head as someone I don’t care for.

“Undefeated” is the “first single” off his rereleased second album ‘Future History’, which itself had four singles (“Don’t Wanna Go Home”, “It Girl”, “Breathing”, and “Fight For You”). The platinum edition of his album (which has the same twelve songs plus this one new one – come on Jason, at least add a few new songs!!) came out at some point, but I don’t think it made much of a difference in terms of sales.

“Undefeated” came right around the block from the Olympics, and it did alright with some people (it peaked at number 14 in Australia and number 90 in the US). I think it is a perfectly fine pop tune, and there isn’t really a lot to say about it. Since the Olympics are still happening, give this a spin, and if you like it, go for gold! (gold meaning one dollar)
