7.5.12 - New Music - Pitbull and Shakira
Pitbull’s new album ‘Global Warming’ is out sometime this summer (supposedly), and the first single is here. No, it’s not “Back In Time” (a single of his that only came out a month ago or so), but a Shakira-featuring song called “Get It Started”.
The lyrics are SO Pitbull “I’m Mr. Worldwide” “I’m so everywhere” “PAY ME”, you know. And while I have never been a fan of Shakira’s vocal style, the song works. And by works, I mean the chorus saves it. The new thing in top 40 is to let a hardcore dance breakdown be the chorus. No words, just music. That’s how it should be. Well, Pitbull and Shakira aren’t at their best (what IS Pitbull’s best?), but I’m hooked. |
