7.26.12 - New Music - Conor Maynard

Conor Maynard (AKA Britain’s Justin Bieber, who I wrote about a little while ago) has a new single outtt. To be fair, the single came out a little while ago (back in June), but I am only getting to writing about it now. If you think that’s bad, you should see some of the other items on my “write about these new singles” list. I got shit back to March.

“Vegas Girl” is the second single off his upcoming debut album ‘Contrast’, out at the end of July. The song isn’t my favorite, and I think it is at the same time too much like “Can’t Say No”, his breakout hit (#2 in the UK!) and also too boring. I don’t know how both of those can happen in the same song, but they do.

The more I look at him, the more I realize he is kind of funny looking. I know this shouldn’t factor in to how I feel about the song, and while it doesn’t (not really), I just thought I’d throw that out there.

Anyways, “Vegas Girl” is alright. I like the music…kind of. It sounds different. Hard sounds and interesting drums and handclaps comprise a beat that is part pop, part hip-hop. The lyrics are boring, and at no point could I hear him on this track. Just close your eyes and listen – doesn’t it sound like NSync if they were still recording?
