7.21.13 - New Music - Example
If nothing else, I give Example props for producing his own tunes.
The UK singer/rapper/producer has a new album coming later this year (he seems to put them out very quickly, which is a good thing, as none of them are terribly good), and it is lead single time. “All The Wrong Places” sees him delving deeper into the weird electro world, a place he’s been spending some time lately. His last album was full of dubstep drops and odd breakdowns. Musically, “All The Wrong Places” is similar, and I applaud the unique production. This certainly doesn’t sound like anything on Top 40. I’m willing to bet this does mediocre on British charts, and then quickly descends. Sadly, what kills the chances here is…Example. Something about his vocals just doesn’t fit, and it throws everything off. But you never know when he’ll strike gold again, and this was a good try. |
