New Music - Maroon 5
Maroon 5 (see: Adam Levine) is working on taking back their crown as the biggest pop band in the world, though I don’t know if new single “Maps” will be the chart-topping hit they’ve become accustomed to. If at first the song sounds a bit more relaxed than you’d expect from a usually-loud and explosive pop group, just wait. The band delivers on the chorus with a fully-produced few seconds and repetitive vocal hook, but it might not be enough to bring people back for several (if not several hundred) listens. The joint Benny Blano/Ryan Tedder production is of course solid, with Tedder’s actual drum-led beat very present. If this doesn’t do it for you, which seems to be the case with the general public so far, I’m sure the album (V) will have plenty for you. |
