6.21.13 - New Music - Backstreet BoysI knew this was coming, but…seriously?
I genuinely really liked the single that the Backstreet Boys recently released with the New Kids on the Block for their combined “album” (it was a greatest hits that had, what, two new songs?) “Don’t Turn Off The Lights”, so when the boys announced they were coming out with a new track, I had hopes. Not high hopes, but some form of hope. And then this happened. As I was trying to form the words to express my disappointment, my friend Toph summed it up perfectly. “How generic” he said. “I mean, there’s generic pop, and then there’s this. This sounds like something you picked up off a shelf amongst dozens of others”. Indistinguishable. Lackluster. Boring. All words that come to mind for me when I hear “In A World Like This”, and those aren’t words I want to have to say when describing anything coming from one of the more important boybands of our time. Also, shame on you Max Martin for letting this see the light of day. |
