You’ll be seeing this one on our favorite songs of the year, mark my words.

Somehow, Avicii restrained himself enough to let the soulful vocals and penetrating melodies take control of “Wake Me Up!”, the most inventive EDM song to happen all year.

I haven’t been a fan of a lot of the singles Avicii has released in the past…well…but this is a game-changer. What begins as an American country/folk song mixing with spirited vocals à la Aloe Blacc somehow becomes an electronic euphoria without you even realizing.

Avicii brings this often taken-for-granted genre and brings a new level of subtlety to it. While EDM may be one of the splashiest and loudest kinds of music available today, “Wake Me Up!” bridges the gap and will find fans on both sides of the aisle.
