5.5.12 - New Music - The Gossip

American indie rock trio The Gossip are back, and it seems that they are shifting their music in an even more pop/dance direction than on their last album. Since 2009’s ‘Music For Men’, lead singer Beth Ditto released a solo EP (which I wrote abouttt) which was a really interesting play for alternative dance. The rest of the group liked it, and their upcoming ‘Joyful Noise’ (out later this month) will see the band venturing into that territory a little more and a little less in the indie ‘rock’ genre. We can hear some more production, which is great. The Gossip has had amazing raw talent for years – it will be incredible to see what some big production hands can do with that.

The lead single from ‘Joyful Noise’ was released last month, and I will say that it is both pretty good and extremely The Gossip.

What’s even better is that an international remixing collective named RAC has brought it upon themselves to remix the track (as they have done for The Gossip before) and kick up the dance/poppiness a little bit.

As great as the original is, I must say the second is my favorite (duh). I think if they push the second one, they’re going to win themselves some new fans.
