5 Questions With - Kat Dahlia
As we mentioned not too long ago, Kat Dahlia is a rising star, an up-and-comer, a name to know. She is the perfect blending of so many genres, it’s hard to think of why she won’t be a smash. She’s got everything you need to be a star, and the songwriting and singing style to back it up. Her latest single “Crazy” is poised to make her a breakout sensation and...well, I’ve talked her up enough. Why don’t you just listen!
Kat answered a few questions, and here they are. She was busy creating a, you know, career, so I kept things short.
1. “Crazy” is my favorite track from you. What does the song mean to you?
The song to me is about a usually strong willed girl that is beginning to feel vulnerable about falling for someone. She doesn't know how to act, or feel, so she feels crazy, and questions everything she does.

2. You’re straddling a line between hip hop, pop, R&B, and bits and pieces of so many other genres. Where does that all come from? Do you prefer any one style over another?
I grew up listening to a lot of genres of music. They all come out of me when I create. I personally have always had a deep rooted love for jazz, reggae, and blues.

3. Your debut album is called ‘My Garden’--can you tell us why the LP is like a garden?
The album is going to be a mixture of sounds, some hard, soft, emotional, swagged out. Like a garden that has all different species of flowers, all evoking different emotions, telling different stories.

4. If I were to say “You’ll love Kat Dahlia if you like _____”, who would you fill that blank in with?
Meryl Streep… j/k…. I’m not good at this... sorry….I think that’s more for other people to decide.

5. (We ask everyone this) What are some groups/singers you’re loving that we should all go out and try? Maybe something we wouldn’t know?
If you've never heard Sugar Pie Desantos voice, do yourself a favor, and listen to her, at least once in your life.
