4.12.12 - New Music - Rihanna
Rihanna’s ‘Talk That Talk’ album has thus far spawned four singles, and here comes a fourth. Her label announced that they will be sending Calvin Harris, Dr. Luke, and Cirkut-produced track “Where Have You Been” out as the fifth single from RiRi’s sixth album in early May.
“Where Have You Been” sees Rihanna returning to the dance floor, leaving behind the hip-hop and r&b of “Birthday Cake (ft. Chris Brown)” and “Talk That Talk (ft. Jay-Z)”. While “We Found Love” spent 10 weeks at number one (making it not only her longest stretch spent at the summit but also the most number of weeks at #1 in 2011 (besting Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” by a week), her other singles haven’t done quite as well. “You Da One” made it to #14, but sadly didn’t go any higher (even though I thought it was so much fun). The next two singles only made it to the high 30’s, so let’s see how well “Where Have You Been” does. If the new single (or the past few) aren’t really your bag, don’t worry. Rihanna has stated that she is already hard at work on her 7th studio album. She says that she has decided on a sound for it, and the LP is in the beginning stages of being made. Wow, girl just doesn’t stop, does she? |
