3.26.13 - New Music - Emeli Sande and Rick Smith
Emeli Sande is one of the biggest names in music - in the UK - and it looks like she is taking a bit of time in between her albums (promotion of her debut has wound down in her homeland, but it seems to be just starting in the US and much of the rest of the world) to take on some other projects.
In addition to writing for the original three girls that made up the Sugababes, she has also teamed up with Rick Smith (of old school electronic group Underworld [and yes, I had to look that up]) to create the lead single from a movie soundtrack. I've never heard of 'Trance', but it;s a thriller about art heists that stars James McAvoy and some other people. Basically what I'm saying is that James and Emeli may be the only reason to see this thing. "Here It Comes" is a departure from Emeli's usually instrumental sound, but vocally and lyrically you can hear her contributions. The track is exceptionally well done, and while it isn't radio-quality, it's going to hit you and move you. But, Emeli was on this - did anyone really think it was going to be bad? |
