3.25.13 - New Music - Fall Out Boy

In keeping with the title of their upcoming album 'Save Rock and Roll', Fall Out Boy's new single is less pop and more rockkk. But, seeing  as how I wrote about the lead single "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" and the band is known for epitomizing modern pop punk, this song had to get written up.

Oh, and let's not forget that it's actually really, really good.

The time off seems to have done the boys of FoB well, giving them a slightly new direction and a focus that is honed squarely on regaining the spotlight and critical acclaim. These new singles take the sarcastic pessimism of past tracks and takes it to a new, dark place. Patrick Stump's vocals have become more intense and he isn't afraid to stretch them. High notes and long holds are new, and he pulls them off well.

"The Phoenix" is a dark, slightly twisted affair (very twisted if we're talking about the video), and the new look fits them very well. I can't wait to see what the whole album has waiting.
