3.15.13 - New Music - David Guetta and Ne-Yo

I am sure that David Guetta is hard at work on his next album, but in the meantime, fan favorite “Play Hard” from his last LP is finally getting the single treatment.

The song features Ne-Yo and Akon (some versions don’t have the Akon bit – I’m not positive yet which is being serviced to radio) and though it was only recently *technically* released as a single in the US, it has previously charted as high as #22. If that’s not a sign that it should be a single, I don’t know what is.

The track is typical of Guetta, only with less singing. The beat takes over as Ne-Yo croons about working hard and, well, playing hard. The music heavily samples (with only slight distortion) Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone”, so it already has some star and hit power built into it.

The people might all be a bit tired of Guetta, but I’m willing to be that this does alright in its second wind on the charts.
