New Music - Capital Cities

The success of Capital Cities’ “Safe and Sound” (which ended up becoming a top ten hit) was one of the biggest surprises for me of the past few years. I loved that song when it first dropped, and I watched it SLOWLY climb the charts, years after interviewing the band about their one single.

After that peaked, the duo tried to repeat the feat with several other tracks, but to no avail. Sadly the songs--and the album ‘In A Tidal Wave of Mystery’--were not up to par with “Safe”.

The band is reissuing the album with new tracks, one of which is to be a radio single. “One Minute More” is EXACTLY what I wanted from the CD the first time around, and their best bet at another hit. It’s builds subtly throughout, and it’s got a chorus catchy enough to grab me in and keep me dancing.

I actually doubt that this will rise as high as “Safe”, but it’s a winner as far as I’m concerned.
