2.5.13 - New Music - Bridgit Mendler
I feel that the general public might still be in the dark about Bridgit Mendler and I should be the one to introduce you all to her.
She did something with Disney (shocker – who doesn’t use that as a musical launch pad these days) and is now creating her own music. Her debut album came out this past fall, and though I probably didn’t devote enough attention to it, the album was pretty well put together. Mendler can sing, write, and she’s genuinely really likeable. “Hurricane” is the second single off ‘Hello My Name Is…’, and while it doesn’t have the same Radio Disney friendliness, it is still pretty catchy. She shifts from pure rocking pop to a more reggae-ish sound, throwing in a touch of rap-singing, showing that in case her slightly more famous friends Cher Lloyd or Karmin should perish, we’ve got a fallback. Really though, she does a good job. On the song, the album, and in general. We just like to tease. |
