2.4.13 - New Music - Woodkid
Woodkid never ceases to amaze.
Right before losing his Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video (to Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love”), the French video artist released his latest masterpiece “I Love You”. The music is fitting for the artist, composed of dark church bells, hardened strings, obscured choirs and the sound of taikos being drummed as well as their sticks being banged together, as is typical for the Japanese instrument. The whole thing is typically epic, as is the video that accompanies it. The new video teases us with the first image – the boy who starred in the “Run Boy Run video – only to go in a strange religious/mourning direction. I may not be sure what it all means, but it is a beautiful visual none the less. Woodkid’s debut album ‘The Golden Age’ is out next month, and I couldn’t be more excited for it if with every copy purchased you won the lottery. Really though. |
