New Music - London Grammar
Does this count as pop? Is it too artistically indie? Maybe even a bit of...chillwave rock? Do we really care? I wrote up London Grammar’s debut album ‘If You Wait’ about a month after it was released last year because when I finally heard it, I knew I had to do whatever I could to spread the word about this amazing group. From the songwriting to the music to lead singer Hannah Reid’s powerful and unmistakable vocals, everything they do is spectacular. “Hey Now” is actually the fifth single from the CD, and it’s a shame that we haven’t gotten a chance to write up their others. It is just about the farthest thing from a radio hit, but with the momentum they’ve got going on (they were nominated for the Best Newcomer Brit award, but lost out to Bastille) and their chart success so far (two top 40s), this slow burning wonder could become a fan favorite. |
