NEW MUSIC - RIHANNA, KANYE WEST, & PAUL MCCARTNEY
We’ve been waiting for what feels like forever (but has really only been about two years) for Rihanna to come back to the pop scene, and she has finally done so, but not with what we were expecting. Just when she had earned the title of dance-pop’s new queen, she went and got all R&B on us with “Diamonds”. We loved it, but it was certainly a switch. The same can now be said for her upcoming eighth album, which sounds like it’s going to be something else entirely. “FourFiveSeconds” is unlike anything we’ve ever heard from the pop star, and it suits her. While I personally don’t think the song is the best or most innovative thing I’ve ever heard, I do particularly like her performance on it. Her vocals really get to shine (bright like a diamond...no, but I had to) like we’ve never heard them before. Plus, anything with Paul McCartney is automatically pretty good, isn’t it? Now I’m even more excited to hear what the album is going to sound like. |
