1.26.13 - New Music - Nicole Scherzinger
You gotta respect Nicole Scherzinger’s commitment. No matter how much she fails on the charts, she just keeps trying. That kind of ambition and determination is commendable.
The former Pussycat Doll and X Factor judge has released another new single, but has announced no plans for a new album or a revamped, more American-friendly version of ‘Killer Love’, her international-only LP. The new single, entitled “Boomerang”, keeps things squarely in the pop genre, but throws in a bit of old-school 8-bit. The lyrics are typically for her, and while it might not be her greatest vocal performance, she still makes it her own. I think the song could do well in the British market, but I worry about its commercial viability in the US. Nicole has that problem; it’s not that she’s making bad music, it’s that she isn’t making American Top 40 music. Well, here’s wishing our girl some luck. Lord knows it’s her time. “Boomerang” isn’t out in the US, and no word yet on when we can expect it. |
