12.31.12 - New Music - Jessie J
Jessie J has made some big hits, but I don’t know that this is one of them.
The song is from the soundtrack for the movie Silver Linings Playbook. Apparently the movie is pretty good, having earned nominations at the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Actor and Best Actress. I haven’t seen it (I haven’t seen any movies this year), so I’ll reserve judgment there. I can talk about the music though, and I will say that the song is very underwhelming. A mix of pop and R&B, the whole thing sounds tired and old, and neither the lyrics nor Jessie’s mediocre performance save it. I won’t go so far as to say the word “bad”, but I will use something worse: “boring”. |
