12.3.12 - New Music - The Script

The Script's third album - '#3', can you believe it? - came out recently, and lead single "Hall of Fame (ft. Will.I.Am)" did fairly well for them around the world (but not so much in the US).

Since "HOF" has had its moment and is on the way down, it's time for a new tune. "Six Degrees of Separation is the band's new single, and it sounds a lot like this:

The song is fine enough, but it doesn't get me excited. I mean, how could you? It doesn't really do a whole lot. It's a typical arrangement, it isn't terribly powerful, and it even enlists the tired-but-true "listing" method for writing songs. You know of what I speak. The songs where, in verse or chorus, the singer lists things. I mean actually lists things. Lead singer Danny O'Donoghue uses the "six" part of the phrase six degrees of separation to turn this into listing. Kind of like the stages of grief, but not quite so momentous.
