New mUsic - Sara Bareilles

As we’ve known for some time now, Sara Bareilles is, unfortunately, not a singles artist. While she’s the only woman in the biz doing piano-fronted pop (with any chance of actual success), she just can’t seem to have more than one hit per album. In fact, she’s only achieved three top 40 singles in her career--one from each of her major label-released LPs (“Love Song”, “King of Anything”, and “Brave”, in that order).

With the promotion of her latest album ‘The Blessed Unrest’ wrapping up, it looked like her label was only going to give it one radio attempt. “Brave” did moderately well and had quite the shelf life (thanks to Katy Perry essentially joking about how “Roar” is the same song), but that seemed the be the one and only.

Cut to Sara being surprisingly nominated for Album of the Year, and priorities have changed. While there may not really be another radio hit on the CD, you better believe her album is going to do all it can to push her name and this album while they have the chance. Will this single succeed, and will she win the coveted title? No, but it’s nice to seem them paying her some real attention.
