11.5.12 - New Music - Skrillex and The Doors
Skrillex has released a new video , this time for his song “Breakin’ A Sweat”.
The song isn’t a single (or, at least there has been no mention of it being released as one), but it gets the animated video treatment anyways. I don’t know that Skrillex has appeared in a single one of his videos yet, but maybe that’s just his thing. The song is a collaboration with the three surviving members of The Doors – yes, those The Doors – and, they make it work. The vocals must be manipulated, as I can’t imagine that these old school rockers really sound like that, but I’m ok with that. The song is cool, and while I know a lot of people were rather upset that he used an actual excerpt from an interview that Jim Morrison did to show the earliest developments of electronic music, I think it is rather cool. I don’t know that the sample was used in an insensitive manner, other than that it makes Skrillex looks great. The video itself is WEIRD AS FUCK, but that’s Skrillex. If you’ve ever seen a Skrillex video, you knew this shit wasn’t going to be a Disney film. Oh, and I think we’re all glad we don’t have to see the guys from The Doors in their bathing suits. |
