11.23.12 - New Music - Tegan and Sara

Wow. Tegan and Sara’s upcoming album ‘Heartthrob’ is shaping up to be fucking fantastic, isn’t it?

The second track released from the duo’s forthcoming album (I can’t say that it is actually a single, so much as just something to get fans excited) is a really wonderful pop song, and it is in line with T&S’ newfound musical direction. It isn’t so much guitar as it is electronic pop production (ok, electronic pop production with guitars), but the song still feels very much like the girls. Sometimes when artists go a new route, they lose who they were and what made them great, but that is not the case here.

First single “Closer” was much more amped than this, but I think I actually prefer “I’m Not Your Hero”. Something about it is subdued, yet powerful. I really like the bridge after the chorus too. Random, I know, but it just hits me right.

“I’m Not Your Hero” is not available yet. I think it won’t be until the album is released in January.
