1.12.13 - New Music - Example
Example’s latest album ‘The Evolution of Man’ might have charted lower than his last (#13 versus #1), but that doesn’t mean it isn’t chock full of tracks ready for both British radio takeover and club domination (as is per usual for the UK rapper/singer).
“Perfect Replacement” is the third such track to come off of ‘Evolution’, and it’s a fucking banger. Where lead single “Say Nothing” was more light-hearted in both sound and subject, “Perfect Replacement” is hard-hitting and abrasive. Example sings about finding that special someone’s…well…replacement, and he does so over a glitch and Skrillex-lite beat. Production duties were helmed by lesser-known EDM remixer and producer Feed Me. You may not recognize the name, but you might have heard some of his remixes (he’s worked for Robyn, Awolnation, etc.). The breakdown/chorus is perfectly in line with what is happening in music these days, and it even takes things to an even harder place, which we all know I love. |
