11.18.12 - New Music - One Direction

The album JUST came out, and already ‘Take Me Home’ is already on its third single. I guess that’s a new thing. Front load the CD with singles and see if it sells a bit better, instead of trying to make it last a long time.

Or, maybe that only applies to albums that labels are well aware don’t have a real shelf life. Enter the new One Direction CD.

After the quick up-and-down initial success of “Live While We’re Young” and the minimal global impact of second single “Little Things” (and attempt at slowing things down by having Ed Sheeran pen a song for them), the boys are ready to get back to rocking and popping all over the place.

No video or single cover has been released, but word has it that this has been confirmed as the third worldwide single for the boy band. “Kiss You” is another pop/rock jam, just like “What Makes You Beautiful”, “One Thing”, and “Live While We’re Young”. Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk are responsible for the tune, which if it had stronger lyrics and more of a bite might pass for a Max Martin/Shellback Pink record. Might.

The song is fine. It sounds too similar to their past records, only without the big hook. Much of their new record is this way, and I’m sure you’ll hear at least one or two more songs before the album is done that are just like this.
