11.11.12 - New Music - Chris Brown
Chris Brown may act (and be) crazy, but I will give this to him: he does NOT stop working.
The singer-songwriter JUST released the sixth single from his ‘Fortune’ album, a song entitled “Don’t Judge Me”. The song was meant for the R&B market, where it did reach a top 30 status (as opposed to the Hot 100, where it peaked [thus far] at #95). His previous single “Don’t Wake Me Up” was just reaching its peak of #10 while he was filming the video and promoting the song.
Again, artists: stop cannibalizing your own singles! Before “Don’t Wake Me Up” could finish it’s run, and wayyy before “Don’t Judge Me” even had a chance, Brown premiered a new single, the first off his upcoming ‘Carpe Diem’ album.
The song, “Nobody’s Perfect”, is here (warning: this is a radio rip, so you’ll hear the station calling itself out a number of times):

The song follows in the footsteps of “Don’t Wake Me Up” and “Turn Up the Music”, the two dance records off ‘Fortune’. Brown knows what is happening right now, and he can see what gets him the most attention and the most airplay. Everyone wants dance, so that’s what he is going to give them.
While the new single sounds more like “Don’t Wake Me Up”, I don’t think it has the same…special something. That interesting bit that separates it from the crowd of up-tempo dance floor-ready tracks that everyone is spewing out these days. The song is fine, but we’ve heard it before. I would say that the song will rapidly rise and fall as “Turn Up The Music” did, but that single had the benefit of being premiered at the Grammy’s. “Nobody’s Perfect” needs to make it on its own merits, and knowing Brown, he won’t even give it a chance to.
“Nobody’s Perfect” isn’t available yet, but perhaps before the end of the year.
