11.10.12 - New Music - Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ – his debut album – is proving to be bigger than anyone could have imagined it would have been. Sheeran – who just recently published an interview with P!B!B! – has just released the sixth single from the CD, and it is another sweet and lovely tune that makes you swoon.
The song is powerful enough, but then you watch the video. The cupid angel is a cute idea, and I love that she walks around the city making everyone fall in love – not just cute girls (as so many people would do). Lesbians, gays, interracial couples, everyone. I also love this song. It is strong and daring, certainly for a single. But then again, when it comes time to release the sixth single from an album, where else do you go? You kind of can’t go wrong. What kills it for me is the breakdown. The vocals deepen, the music changes, and at one point we’re left with Sheeran screaming in his best Bert McCracken (of The Used) impersonation. So, that means I’m in love with it. I sincerely hope that “Give Me Love” is as big a hit in the UK as so many of his other songs have been. |
