10.21.12 - New Music - Green Day
Green Day’s latest album ‘¡Uno!’ just came out (and when I say just came out I mean JUST came out – the CD was released September 25th), and already we’re on to the next one? The album produced three singles (all three of which were released in less than three months), none of which did massively well, but the rock charts liked ‘em.
So, now we’re gearing up for the new album (the appropriately-titled ‘¡Dos!’, out November 9th)? I know I keep saying this to people, but GIVE IT A REST. You just made an entire album, and the whole cycle was done in like, a month! Was it worth it? Even if the band wanted to put out a lot of music, why not do it over say, a year? Maybe two? That would still be an incredible output, but this is just too much. “Stray Heart” is the first single off of ‘¡Dos!’, and it follows the trend of Green Day going back to their simple and fun pop-punk roots. The song is fine, as were the three singles off ‘¡Uno!’, but is it great? I, for the moment, will say no. |
